Project summary: 

The Lāhainā Energy Partnership is supporting community-led planning in the rebuilding of electricity infrastructure in Lāhainā after the 2023 fire. Shake is partnering with two other Hawaiʻi-based organizations, Lāhainā Strong and Hā Sustainability, to facilitate the community co-design process from July 2024 to April 2025. The National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) is providing funding for the community-led process and NREL will provide technical assistance to support energy planning and decision-making.

  • Planning and facilitating co-design workshops on energy topics such as energy generation technologies, electricity grid infrastructure, and ownership models.
