The benefits of solar energy today are often just out of reach for underserved members of our community, including renters, low income households, and local small businesses. To provide access for these customers, Savio Solar Power Solutions is developing a solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery energy storage system (BESS) projects on Oʻahu which will offer distributed ownership through the condominium ownership model. Condo Solar enables homes and businesses to buy a unit of a larger solar farm and receive the credits on their utility bill for the output of their share of the farm. Units will be offered proportional to the owners’ electricity usage. Owners donʻt need to own their own home or physically connect to the shared solar facility in order to receive the benefit. Inclusive financing will be offered to enable those traditionally priced out of the solar market to build wealth through ownership in a share.
